    • Requests must be submitted in writing and should clearly identify the records being sought to avoid delays.

    • Written requests may be submitted via email, mailed to the Sheriff’s Office, or delivered in person.

Response Time

The Sheriff’s Office will respond to your request within three business days of receiving it.

    • If the records are immediately available, they will be provided at that time.

    • If additional time is needed to process the request, you will receive a written response with an estimated completion time and cost.

Costs for Records

Under O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71, reasonable fees may apply for search, retrieval, review, and copying of records:

    • Search, Retrieval, and Supervision Fees: Charged at the hourly wage of the lowest-paid qualified employee. The first 15 minutes are free.

    • Copying Fees: $0.10 per page for standard 8.5” x 11” copies.

    • Electronic Media Costs: Charged at the actual cost of producing the records (e.g., USB drives or CDs).

    • Redaction Costs: Fees may be charged for time spent redacting exempt information as required by law.

Payment

    • If the estimated cost exceeds $25.00, you will be notified in writing and asked to approve the cost before processing begins.

    • Payment must be received before the records are released.
