Empowering Through Education: Firearm Safety in Action

Yesterday marked another meaningful step toward building a safer community here in Rabun County. Sheriff Mark Gerrells had the honor of working alongside an outstanding group of women during a hands-on firearm safety class focused on responsibility, awareness, and confidence.

These classes are about more than just learning how to handle a firearm—they’re about understanding the importance of safety, making informed decisions, and fostering respect for both the tools and the responsibility that comes with them. Each participant demonstrated a strong commitment to learning, and that dedication is something to be proud of.

A special thank you goes out to the staff members who volunteered their time to assist with the class. Their support ensured everything ran smoothly and created an environment where participants felt comfortable asking questions and engaging fully.

Community education like this plays a vital role in public safety. By continuing to offer opportunities for learning and training, the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to empowering residents with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe.

We look forward to hosting more classes in the future and continuing to serve our community with pride.
